Northlight-Wildland

Wildfire intelligence and early escalation awareness using the Heimdall platform. Combines satellite thermal indicators with local sensor data to identify deviations from environmental baselines.

What It Does

Northlight-Wildland applies the Heimdall detection engine to wildfire monitoring. The system combines ground-level sensor data with satellite thermal indicators to identify environmental anomalies that may indicate fire onset or escalation.

Detection Hierarchy

Ground-level sensors provide the primary detection layer, with NASA FIRMS/VIIRS satellite data serving as secondary validation. This approach reduces false positives while maintaining high sensitivity to environmental changes.

  • Local acoustic and thermal sensing for early smoke and heat detection
  • Satellite thermal imagery as validation layer
  • Confidence scoring based on multi-source correlation
  • Event tracking to monitor fire perimeter evolution

Operational Integration

The Northlight interface presents fire intelligence in formats compatible with ICS command structures. Output includes geographic visualization, confidence assessments, and data exports aligned with incident documentation workflows.
